Your craft stays yours.

The consultation, the design, the pigments and the technique. FixNip is designed to support the shape from the subcutaneous tissue, nothing else.

Referrals in both directions.

You point her to a trained surgeon; once the site has healed, her surgeon has confirmed it and at least six months have passed since implantation (instructions for use), the surgeon sends her back to you for the colour. Partner studios are listed by province.

The path

From her first question to the colour.

She tells you first. A client asks for a cover-up, or for an areola on a reconstruction that has flattened. You recognise that what she is asking for is shape, and that ink alone cannot give it.

You point her to her surgeon. You name FixNip NRI and send her back to her surgeon with the question. The surgeon examines timing and tissue and decides with her.

The implant is designed to support the shape. A trained surgeon places it in a subcutaneous pocket, in a surgical procedure through a small incision. Anaesthesia and the care setting are decided by the surgeon.

You add the colour. Your craft is complemented by the implant, a collaboration whose outcome matches the patient's vision. Once her surgeon confirms healing, at least six months after implantation, and if she chooses it, she returns to your chair for the areola and the colour.

The artist never places the implant and never assesses eligibility. Both stay with the surgeon. Your part is the recognition, the referral and the pigmentation.

MedTechInvest Canada offers training for medical tattoo artists: what the implant changes at the site, when a site is ready for pigment, and how the referral to the surgeon works. Request a session for your studio.

What the implant changes

Shape and projection come from the implant; the areola and the colour stay your work. The session shows healed sites and the minimum interval of six months from the instructions for use; the surgeon confirms when each site is ready.

FixNip NRI is intended for nipple reconstruction in patients who have undergone mastectomy with removal of the nipple or the nipple-areola complex. Whether it is an option for you is a decision you make with your surgeon.
